Google Fi randomly deactivated and won't reactivate

I was able to get a different physical SIM to work (I pulled it from an older phone). However, strangely, now I have two mobile network icons in my notification bar, even though there is only one SIM under the SIMs menu. I'd really like to get rid of the "ghost SIM" (because of battery drain), but I'm not sure how to get my phone out of this state. I've disabled eSIM entirely and it's still there, which is strange, because the Pixel 9 Pro only has one physical eSIM slot.

I actually do not see any specific mention of that toggle in your OP, though.

Probably9857 This is what I'm referring to when I say these bullet points:

Inserting my physical SIM, disabling eSIM, and rebooting.
Removing my physical SIM, enabling eSIM, and rebooting. This results in a "ghost" SIM that doesn't seem to actually work, and I must disable this SIM to have the eSIM provisioning process actually start through the Google Fi app. However, the provisioning process never finishes, and hangs on "Just a moment".

Is there another setting that allows you to disable or enable eSIM? I don't know of one, so if there is one, please let me know.

To me, "enable/disable eSIM" means Settings > Network and Internet > SIMs > toggle the specific SIM on or off.

Probably9857 That is not what I meant. Either way, you now know what I meant, so it doesn't really matter at this point. I would edit my OP to clarify, however I cannot at this point as the option is gone. I really wish I could get rid of the "ghost SIM" though.

In an effort to remove the "ghost" SIM, I tried to go to the reset menu and erase eSIMs. This did nothing. Then, I tried to go to the reset menu and "reset mobile network settings". In this, I can see a drop down, one with "Google Fi" and another with my phone number. I tried to reset them both, and it still didn't fix the extra network. I'm so confused as to how this is even possible, it seems like an Android or GOS bug. I really hope I don't have to reset my entire phone to get rid of the extra SIM.

The only difference in "About Phone" is the IEMI and that one of the SIMs says "Disconnected". I assume this is the busted one, but I have no way to remove it at this point.

Okay, now I really messed up. I did the specific SIM toggle mentioned above to try to disable and re-enable the SIM to see if it would fix the extra mobile network. Now, I'm back to my physical SIM not working again even with the "replacement". So back to square one. I really wish I had just left it and not tried that toggle.

After several reboots and putting in my broken SIM before swapping it out with the working one, I was able to get back to the dual network status again. If anyone has any ideas on how to get rid of the "ghost" network (or eSIM working), please let me know. Thanks.

I realized I never updated this. This was a hardware issue with my phone. I had it replaced under warranty and the problem was resolved. It seems that the esim got corrupted or somehow damaged at the hardware level.
