Ingonimania How many contacts do you have? You can just hold press on a contact and select each one and click delete. Not the most efficient way but works

You can do this by clearing the app data of the Contacts Storage app (not the Contacts app).
Contacts Storage is a system app, so - three-dots menu >> Show system in All apps view.

Ingonimania Yeah, I appreciate why you did not want to select each one individually with that many. Another thing to note (unless other apps allow it), custom fields and labels do not seem to be saved when exporting and then importing from the default contacts app. You may already know this, or have a solution around it, just didn't want you to delete 3k contacts with custom labels and then import them without.
