black GOS will actually ask you after the setup if it should turn off OEM unlock automatically, without you having to do it manually. Yes, turning it off, including keeping dev options disabled is recommended.

So yea, the correct setup is: Flashing GOS, locked bootloader, OEM unlock off, dev options off. Just use the phone like a normal phone without modifications.

The situation on testing of the current experimental release is:

From GrapheneOS:
no more Pixel 10 support indefinitely
because we don't need more feedback and it's not ready for use
and people seem to misunderstand what experimental means

That would include at least # testing and github.

That doesn't preclude community help on the forums.

Up to you, whether you want to wait for the next GrapeheneOS update for Pixel 10 orrevert to stock. I think most people are waiting.

what about OTA update when stable will release?

My expectation is that the next try, whether another experimental or non-experimental/alpha, will be available both as OTA update or an install. There is no ETA.

Hello Forum,

I just flashed the current stable experimental build onto a pixel 10 pro and noticed the locationservices are not working at all. Neither the ones depending upon playservices or the independent ones usually just happy with location being on (on pixel 9). Is this expected right now or is there something wrong with that devices? I never tried using it with the google rom so I am not sure. Do not want to flash to stock and gos again so some input from the community would be super appreciated.

akarin Have you tried setting network location ? because location normally did not work for me as well using p10 pro when i tried using organic maps.

maybe this would help
Settings -> Location -> Location Services -> Network Location -> (grapheneOS proxy or apple server ur choice)

I would also suggest maybe messing around with other location services nd see which one works best

my god can you imagine my embarrassment... I was still outside of the owners profile where the network location is not available and looking for it. After activating it works as expected. Now I have to figure out which services I can disable again to satisfy google maps. I used it on my old phone in the car profile to avoid traffic jams since it is really bad around here. Thanks for the reply. It is the kind of thing you set up once and then forever forget.

chloyster this was said if I'm not mistaken on the discord telegram matrix Chan, beta testing etc. The main problem is that people overwhelmed the team, and they need to focus on more important task than porting GOS to pixel 10. If you are already set to receive update from the stable channel, you will receive it when it will be ready for pixel 10. For the moment there will be no more update, this is what I understood.

Ah ok cool. Thank you! I realized after I sent this that it was probably something along those lines. Appreciate the update and the team immensely for their work. The experimental release seems to be working fine for me at the moment, besides the issue I found of my Garmin watch refusing to connect. But that's not a big deal for now.

Do we know if it's safe to keep the experimental release on the device? Like if it's nothing until stable will it fall behind on security?

The very safest thing would be to turn the device off and lock it up in a safe. 🙂

I think it's likely that when QPR2 is released to supported device there will be security enhancements, and it sounds as if the Pixel 10 may well not be part of that. But the experimental GrapheneOS release for the Pixel 10 series is experimental. It is not expected that users are relying on an experimental release to be secure -- that would represent (as mentioned above) an incorrect understanding.
