Gold95 Question is: would you be happy with the stock Google OS if there was a surprise showstopper that meant GOS couldn't work on the 10 Pro? If yes, then keep your 10 Pro. If no, then return your 10 Pro (assuming that is cost-free) and figure out some interim solution until GOS is released for the 10 series, and if it is then re-buy the 10 Pro. Or else there's a risk you might have to take a hit selling the 10 secondhand if it turned out not to support GOS. Perhaps as the end of your returns period nears you can take this decision as to whether to return or not, at which point you'll potentially have more information than you do today.

Foggy that makes sense. I think I can return it within 14 13 days as long as I don't touch it further. So perhaps I'll wait 10 days to see if the team has some good or bad news after taking a look at QPR1.

Seen some sources say Android QPR1 release date is today (03 Sep). Is this true, and if so is GOS P10 closer than we think?

fortnitebattlepass It was always clear that QPR1 releases start of sept. But it's never clear how quick GOS will be ready for the P10, so we all just speculate. Let's just wait and see.

My 10 Pro XL is already waiting on the table to be turned on and I am just as excited as everybody else here, but let's calm down for a few weeks, as it will certainly take a while.

spl4tt I’m right in saying you need to setup the phone once as normal, and can then install graphene cause of bootloader unlocking? I’m very tempted to do the same thing as you, although might make use of the phone in the interim because of a trade in offer.

fortnitebattlepass Yea, you have to toggle OEM unlocking in dev options, for that you have to start the phone once, with internet connection.
I'm not using my 10 pro xl yet, but its ready to be flashed

Gold95 My Pixel 8 screen is broken. It is usable but flashes purple lines and green pixels at full brightness, regardless of brightness setting.

Some Pixel 8s are more prone to screen issues like this, which is why Google is offering free screen replacements for affected users: https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/15009955?hl=en-GB

Honestly, an issue like this would probably be covered by the warranty anyway. The fact that you didn't attempt to hand in the device for repair suggests to me that the issue likely occurred because the phone got physically damaged in some way? Because otherwise I'm not sure why you'd buy a new (and more expensive) device and not attempt to repair your current one. My own Pixel 8 was affected by the green screen of death issue, I shipped it to Google for repair and received the phone back fully repaired and covered by the warranty. They had no qualms with GrapheneOS being installed. But this is largely off topic.

No, device is physically fine. I didn't send it in because I use my phone every day. So the plan was to buy a new one, send the old one to be repaired and then sell the old one.

Thank you Graphene OS team doing great work and thank you for the updates on the 10! I preordered it and will begrudgingly use the stock OS until Graphene becomes available

there will be issues from Pixel 10 still having a device branch instead of regular Android 16 QPR1 combined with Google no longer pushing Pixel device branches to AOSP as far as we know
we were told Google would still be pushing Android 16 QPR1 and future quarterly/yearly releases to AOSP but the fact is that it should have been pushed on September 3 and was not
currently things are in limbo waiting for them to push that

I find this pretty concerning. This is developing very fast and it's totally going in a wrong direction.
Let's hope they just forgot to push the button, but it does seem intentional.

At present it is not known when GrapheneOS might support the 10 series. This is true even though some people very much wish to know soon, for various reasons.

My understanding from the above shared link to the GOS social media post, is that they have confirmed that they can accommodate Pixel 10, but that they are waiting for Android QPR1 to release first. It was supposed to release Sept 3, but has been delayed.

So it is a question of when GOS will become available for Pixel 10.

My understanding is that the project is fairly confident that it will work out, but not as confident as they will be when they announce that it is working.

I am unaware of any statement about "by the end of the year".

Unfortunately I think this is fairly simple:

It is possible to buy a Pixel 10 right now, but not possible to be certain right now that GrapheneOS will run on it, and definitely not possible now to know when,
It is possible to buy a Pixel 10 after an announcement has been made that GrapheneOS is available on the Pixel 10 and to be certain at that point that it is supported, but that time is not now.

Pixel 10's are available now, but certainty will be available later.

if you need GOS on your phone stick with 9 series you are not missing anything special on the 10
