Signal notifications sometimes delayed or don’t arrive

Is anyone else having issues with Signal notifications being delayed (sometimes over an hour) or not delivered at all? Incoming calls sometimes have the same problem.

I’ve enabled unlimited battery usage and granted all necessary permissions. I’ve tried installing Signal from GitHub and from Aurora Store, it seems slightly better via Aurora Store, but the issue still exists.

If there's already a post about this that I missed, please link it. Any advice on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated!

n3t_admin I have not, i did now so ill try this out for some time. Ill mark as solved if this works.

I still do not get the notifications. If i close down the app then get a message soon after the app has been closed i will get a notification. However when the app has been closed for some time it wont deliver.

A few questions,

Are you on airplane mode and WiFi?
How is your signal strength?
Do you have Google Play Services?
Does the Signal app have unrestricted battery setting?
Does the problem persist if you're on mobile data?

I had a similar issue, but I found out that it was due to weak reception. The notifications arrive on time if I have a strong reception. In addition, submit a log to Signal right there on the app if the issue persists.

Another way to try is the Molly app which has a different web socket implementation than Signal.

I've had this issue when using Signal with Google Play Services. I even had this issue with my previous, non GOS, phone.
With GOS I no longer use anything Google, which includes not using Google Play Services. I installed Signal directly from Signal using Obtainium, and I no longer have any issues. I've been using Signal this way for over 6 months and have had zero issues with late or missed messages or calls. It seams removing Google from the equation fixes everything.
