cape town based. pixel 7a and graphine os. having trouble

HI I'm based in cape town, have a pixel 7a,and having trouble. graphine os inst'd, incl apps and app stores. Google play NOT used/installed. Molly/Singal WAS working, now no. Text they send to phone number never comes through - it DID when I installed it initially. Help please. No pixel phone is South Africa. Perhaps it's that? Is there a way I can make this phone and Graphine os work here? It was for a time.

I would be very surprised if this had anything to do with your location.

Since you didn't mention it, I assume you're not using a unified push service. In that case, the first thing to check is that Signal or Molly has unrestricted battery usage.

stoca that sounds like you didn't update Signal/Molly in a while. I would try that first.

Probably9857 I read last night there's a Molly UP version you can install. Don't really understand it all, and I did try to install it, but I'll try again tonight. Unrestricted battery usage? The post i read mentioned the usual Molly app used up alot of her battery. Again, SO new to all this.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Molly a few times and that didn't work. I update it just now through Accrescent. I downloaded and updated from there - and still the same issue. No text send with verification code....

Yes, some people report that. Personally I have not noticed it being an issue.

You have 4 options:

Install Google Play services
Grant Molly unrestricted battery usage
Setup a UP service (and grant that unrestricted battery usage)
Don't get notifications

Probably9857 Installing google play services - does that make ALL these things easier?? Is it safe re privacy to use a sandboxed google play? Or better to avoid it?
How do i grant molly unrestricted battery usage, and does that cause problems?

Unrestricted battery usage: So in settings all I could find is 'allow battery usage" and "unrestricted" has been selected - allow battery usage in background without restrictions"
But that was selected anyway and I can't seem to unselect it.

stoca it's possible you requested too many codes in a short time. In that case a cooldown starts, try again in about 1-2 hours just to be sure.

Well...I had thought your issue was about not getting notifications. But now I read your OP more carefully, I guess you aren't getting messages at all?

If that is the case, and you really don't care about notifications, then you can ignore my previous advice.

Probably9857 Yeah, I can't reinstall Molly. I'm not receiving the verification code text, although I did when i first installed it. I reinstalled it as the app stopped working - no calls or texts.

That should be fine then.

That is strange, but I would recommend leaving it unrestricted for now, at least until you are getting messages again.
