Run Pixel without Battery

If someone has old pixel phone and wishes to remove battery due to potential hazards, am I right in saying that an option can be made in GrapheneOS to enable starting the phone with USB connection without battery?

While doing such a thing may require changes to the OS, whether it can be done at all will be entirely dependent on the hardware & firmware.

Assuming it is tecnically possible (which I consider unlikely), it seems highly unlikely that GrapheneOS would want to use scarce developer time to support such a feature.

jackFang That is such an incredibly niche case, I can't imagine why there would already be plans to implement something like that.

Plus, I doubt the phone can even run off USB power alone, from a hardware standpoint. Perhaps if he soldered the power supply to the battery terminals it could work, but I'd imagine there would also be some type of circuit he'd have to spoof with a resister or something.

It's not possible, a user recently mentioned that the USB cable stops providing power temporarily during the booting process. That means your phone will never finish booting

On the other hand, if I'm not mistaken, we already have the option to run a Pixel from a USB cable alone if we turn on charging optimization and the battery is at 80%. Read about something called 'charging bypass' in the first message.
