I remember Proton created a poll a few months ago (maybe 1 year before) asking their community on WHAT they should work and there were plenty of other propositions like improving their actual apps/features.
It turned out the AI integration was one of the first (maybe the first if I'm correct) proposition that was voted by the community, which is quite surprising because a lot of people on their Reddit (the Proton's part of the community that is the most concerned by privacy) were mad at the results!
Who are those who asked for AI? People who don't know a lot about privacy? Or just too hyped by the AI trend and forgot how the use of an AI is fundamentally not a good thing?
Anyway It's too late to debate about that, people (a majority) asked for AI, they got AI.
