VPN not connecting when connected to wifi

Currently on latest stable GOS build on my Pixel 8a and using PIA VPN.
My issue is that whenever I am connected to wifi, my VPN disconnects. When using my mobile data, the VPN connects fine.
When using just my wifi without VPN, I'm unable to visit certain websites such as duckduckgo.com (this is the case with all of my browsers: Vanadium, Brave, and Ironfox), Aurora Store doesn't let me log in, and RedReader (open-source reddit app) can't even load posts.
I've checked my wifi router settings and nothing seems to have changed to be causing this issue, but I'm also not an expert, so any advice here is welcome.
Turning off my private DNS (controld) on my phone has not helped at all.
Using another VPN (ProtonVPN Free) hasn't helped either.
One weird thing is that in the morning I can connect to my VPN with wifi on just fine, but later in the afternoon this issue starts happening again.
It's been about two or three days since this issue has started.
I have no such issues on my Windows 10 PC and my hacked Amazon Fire Tablet, all using the same VPN and VPN settings.

Jojojo hello there, I have kind of the same problem on my pixel 8 pro. Yesterday, before factory resetting my phone (decided to restart from scratch some settings) my WI-FI worked just fine.

But after the resetting, I've been able to connect to my home Wi-Fi, without any issue and install some apps through WI-FI. BUT, after the apps installation process, I wasn't able to connect to any app accounts, hostname issue, and when I went to Vanadium, I wasn't able to reach any website. But my 5G works just fine for me.

I've attempted another factory resetting, same issue. Don't know what to do too...

My other devices work just fine with Wi-Fi.

Jojojo I have fixed the issue for me. I tell you what I made hopping that can help. I forget the WiFi and reset all Wi-Fi configuration on the phone. Then I factory reset my WiFi box. Then I connected to the WIFI using the factory password.. And it worked !

Try:

Settings, Network & internet, tap "Internet", tap the gear to the right of your Wi-Fi network's name, tap "Privacy", choose "Use per-network randomized MAC",
Reboot Wi-Fi router

If that fixes the problem, the DHCP implementation on the Wi-FI router is arguably deficient.

__Blank__ This just worked for me: go into your router configuration, find the list of connected devices, and just delete everything that's not currently connected.

de0u Thank you so much! You definitely pointed me towards the right direction. After some further research, I figured that the IP Address range on my router was full, and through my router configs I mass deleted devices which were basically all just my phone. Now everything is working just fine again. Hopefully it's not just a coincidence, but for now everything is fine. If that sounds right to you, please let me know so I could confidently mark this thread as Solved.

Jojojo After some further research, I figured that the IP Address range on my router was full, and through my router configs I mass deleted devices which were basically all just my phone.

Then the DHCP implementation on the router is troublesome, and the problem will reappear unless you "Use per-network randomized MAC" for that Wi-Fi network.

Jojojo obviously ! With graphenOs we can quickly overcome the capacity of the router since it changes the Mac address each time we require a new IP configuration... 😂
