Does GrapheneOS not receipt or acknowledge donations?

I'm a new (several week) user of GrapheneOS. About a week ago I donated a significant amount (for me) to the project. to fairly support the work done and being done on it.

I realized that GOS is not a registered charity.

But I never received any kind of receipt or thanks. I have never seen that with any other non-profit or organization I have supported before.

ve3jlg as you mentioned, GrapheneOS doesn't appear to be a registered non-profit. Depending on how you donate, the receipt would simply be whatever transactional confirmation you receive from the payment service.

Now that there exists a non-profit GrapheneOS Foundation could this be changed? A donation receipt would be very welcome!

I have never gotten any receipt from any open source software project I donated to, GrapheneOS included. I dont expect it either, more than the usual thankful message tht donations are greatly appreciated etc.

Open Source is not the same as non profit.
I would like to be able to get a receipt at the end of the year for my monthly contribution. The allure of the non profit bit for donors is, in the US, the donation is tax deductable.
My donations are made monthly through Github, to Daniel. Is there a different donation target for the non-profit?

The Signal Foundation did give me a receipt which was useful because that makes the donation tax deductible.

charlatan I see. Check the info app, there is details for the GrapheneOS Foundation. You maybe can use that and get a receipt from your bank.

charlatan If I remember right, the GrapheneOS Foundation is not registered as a nonprofit in the US. The history page only mentions being registered in Canada. Donations probably are not tax deductible if that is true. I don't see it listed by the IRS
