GOS Setup Advice - User Profile for RCS Messaging

Hi Graphene community! I used Android for years, flashing various custom ROMs across multiple devices, but I’ve been on iPhone for years. I’m excited to try GrapheneOS and possibly switch permanently. I’ve ordered a Pixel 9 Pro XL and am awaiting delivery.

GOS installation and setup look straightforward, but it appears Google Messages is still the only RCS option on GOS.

Since GOS sandboxes Play Services, is it “relatively” safe to run in my main daily-use profile, or should I use a separate profile for apps like Google Messages to maximize privacy? If separate, will I get notifications in my main profile? I want strong privacy but dread tedious profile-switching.

Searching online, it seems this is a tradeoff some GOS users are willing to make. I just want to make sure I understand all considerations before I make my choice.

Others can answer the privacy benefits of using a second profile better than I can, but at least I can answer this part. You can turn on notification forwarding from a secondary profile to the primary profile. However, if the app is only installed on your second profile, you'll need to switch to that profile to actually act on that notification.
