Put Linux Mint on a Chromebook

I know this is an off topic, but if anyone has tried this yet or knows how to go about it, I'd appreciate the feedback. :)

So I have a Lenovo 100e 2nd Gen MTK Chromebook and I'd like to install Linux Mint on it. I've tried booting into developer mode and flashing it from a hard drive and I have gotten the message , Success! Booting from any external flash drive is now enabled. Turn off the device and plug in the external drive. I've done this but it doesn't work. So... Is it possible in any way to put Linux Mint on a Chromebook? Thanks in advance :)

Why would you want to do that? Linux mint is significantly less secure than ChromeOS.

Mint is a derivative of Debian and uses x11.
If you absolutely have to use Linux, there's Secureblue

I would recommend MacOS without an AppleID and following the hardening guide

DeletedUser359 yeah I just prefer Linux to Chrome. Don't like using a Google account for everything (and i dont want to create a 'burner google account') and I like the Linux interface much more.

You cannot have privacy on an OS with no application sandboxing where any app can be a keylogger and see all screen content. And again, if you want use Linux, Secureblue is the best option available.

valid point, but I would like to mention that this is only true for distros still relying on the old X11 display server. Wayland (currently the default on Gnome/KDE) has significant improvements in that regard, apps can no longer read all key input or "see" the screen. Standardization remains an issue in regards to app sandboxing though. Snap and Flatpak formats have advanced quite a bit, but are still not perfect.

Depends on the threat model, what apps you use, who you trust and who you want to be private from.

But in terms of being private specifically from third party apps, sandboxing is important, yes.

GrapheneOS is a Linux distro, so technically GrapheneOS Desktop is the most secure Linux. Hopefully traditional Linux VMs will reach a stable state, so GrapheneOS desktop can completely cover the usecase of distros like Mint
