What's going on with NewPipe app? Content unavailable :( messages.

Hi,
Does anyone know why so many videos just don't play with NewPipe? I keep getting messages that content is not available and have to open videos in Vanadium. Thanks.

Rootus if you are using a VPN, certain IPs get blocked by Youtube, switching servers may help with the issue.

Some other things to try:

Disable location services. Sometimes I find that location services will create issues.

If your VPN supports it, try using a "streaming" VPN server. Higher chance of getting an unblocked IP.
Proton VPN, for example, has a special set of "US Streaming" servers.

DeletedUser495 they don't only blocks VPN IP address, they also block regular IP address. It's some sort of punishment.

It's just Google. You need to subscribe to YouTube Premium and pay 15$ per month. Google don't like people who use Brave, uBlock or Newpipe.

I've seen this behavior as well when using a VPN, just switching servers usually 'fixes' it. The price you pay for privacy.

I don't think Google wants to push its users to YouTube Premium (yet).

When I am affected by the bug and open the video in the web browser, I get a message like: “Please log in so we can be sure you are not a bot”. As if bots could be stopped by this.

If I then log in with a Google account without Premium, I can watch the video (at least in the web browser).

2 issues I've faced with NewPipe.
Dont use a VPN, and enable dynamic code loading (cant remember if its from memory or storage), it seems to need this to load content.
I use NewPipe daily, its fine for me :)

oci3o Dynamic code loading is enabled by default but not using VPN is kind of defeating the whole purpose of using Graphene OS.

You dont need to disable your VPN, just use a different server/country as SgtSurehand said and that should work for you.

Yes. Switching to a different country usually fixes it.

Other question, if someone shares a YouTube video with me, can I only open it in youtube or is there a way to open it in NewPipe?

nandohyphen1 long press the link and use Share button on the bottom of the screen to send it to apps that support it.

I am experiencing the content unavailable issue while using protonvpn. Lately it seems most VPN servers I switch to are being blocked as well. Not using a vpn stops the issue. Interstingly, if I try to open the link in vanadium or any other browser I am getting the 'please sign in' request, while I can watch the video in brave without any issues whatsoever without logging in or changing the VPN server.
