Profile Questions before switching

I'm thinking of switching after my iPhone is starting to struggle charging and realizing what my threat model is. I do have some questions that i can't seem to find answers to just scrolling through the internet for a couple weeks. Most of my questions relate to profiles. I'm thinking that its profiles like on a computer where you sign in at the dashboard? Or something. I might be wrong on how that works.

If you have an app on a different profile, are push notifications going to traverse profiles. Ex: I have WhatsApp on a international travel profile and signal on my daily profile when I'm at home. If i'm traveling and someone messages me on signal while i'm on my international travel profile out of the country, will the push notification show up?

If you're someone who runs an admin profile w/ maximum permissions and then subprofiles, are you able to push the same app to all profiles? Ex: If I know i'm going to use Signal on every single profile, do i need to download it for every single profile multiple times? Or can an admin profile just put it on there?

My thought for an international profile would really be WhatsApp (cuz it seems like its insanely popular outside of the US and there isn't an alternative), mobile passport, and google maps. Really anything that i'm going to need to navigate and get me back into the country but keep the profiles separate. Anything else I might not be thinking of?

Not profile related questions:

Is there a text message and phone call app that works w/ the phone number that the SIM is going to be tied to? Like can Signal be my substitute for Google Messages? Or is there another app that can do that for you where i can still use my number? I don't think I can fully get away from not using my phone number for some friends but I want to make sure I can still use it as such for when I have to. Or is GrapheneOS stock texting and phone call app good enough and can do that for you?

Any concerns about Spotify privacy wise I don't know about? Although that questions might be better on r/privacy for me.

The way that profiles are structured on Android are such:

After boot, you can sign in to the "Owner" profile.
- This profile must always be running and has to be signed into first.
- It contains global device settings that secondary profiles do not (SIM management, Private DNS, User profile management, etc.), but does not have "elevated" privileges like an admin would on a desktop OS.
All other profiles are "secondary" profiles and can be switched to after the "Owner" profile is unlocked.
- Each encrypted with their own encryption keys
GOS adds various improvements to user profiles:
- More user profiles.
- End session
- Disabling app installation
- Improved install available apps
- Notification forwarding

You can push apps from the Owner profile to secondary profiles, but not from secondary profiles to any other profiles. The app is not duplicated, but rather a data directory is created for it in that profile and it is allowed to run there. Same thing goes if you were to manually install the same app that is installed in any other profile to a second profile (or third, etc.) I.e., even if you were to "download" it in multiple profiles, the actual application package is not duplicated.

Notifications can be set to forward to the currently active profile, assuming the profile that received the notification is currently running (always for owner, configurable for secondary profiles).

GrapheneOS comes with a stock SMS/MMS app and a Dialer app which should both work fine for carrier related communications. You are of course welcome to use other apps like Google Messages (which supports RCS and e2ee RCS).
As far as Spotify goes, or any other app for that matter, the privacy risk is minimal as they generally only have access to the information and permissions you allow them.

@ThisisATemp To add to this, the forwarded notification only reveals that you have a notification from abc app but does not show the content of the notification itself. Meaning that you would need to switch to that user profile in order to read and respond to that notification.

Whereas, if you were to use Private Space in either the Owner Profile, or a Secondary Profile, you would be able to read and respond to the notification. So it depends on your usecase, desired (in)convenience, and threat model.
