Android 16 Forced Notification Grouping Sucks

I hate that Android 16 is grouping all my calendar notifications and hiding them from me. This needs to be optional. Is there a way for GrapheneOS to provide some sort of settings option to make this feature turn off for selected apps? Or allow selected apps to override the forced system grouping?

I understand that grouping can be useful, sometimes, but Android forcing its will upon me is annoying.

csrcsr Yeah I've recently found it annoying too. For example, when I'm using Vanadium in incognito (I've set it to open external links in incognito by default), and I download an apk, image, or file and switch to a different app, I can't simply click "Close all Incognito tabs" anymore because this notification is grouped with the "Download Complete" notification which means I know have to do an extra click on the group notification in order to access the "Close all Incognito tabs" feature.

Is possible for the Devs to override this "feature" with an optional on/off in settings?

csrcsr probably. The recent update for Threema seems to have changed it back, for instance.

It's weird, though. It's supposed to be forced, without the possibility of developer choice. So maybe it's a bug that notifications will sometimes not be grouped.

Actually, I think what might be happening is that notifications only get grouped if notifications arrive one after the other. If an app gives multiples notifications at once (say you were in airplane mode, and take it off after several hours), then the system fails to group them. I guess that there wasn't yet a previous notification for the system to group it with if they all come in at once, so they get shown separately. Which might be a bug.
