lock SIM requires SIM PIN

I just downloaded Graphene OS yesterday. I want to create a sim pin. When I go to my sim lock settings, the lock sim slider is not checked. Not surprising, because I never made a sim pin.

I press the lock sim button, and it asks for my sim pin. I never made a sim pin, so I don't know what to enter here. I tried my regular pin and another pin, but neither worked. Now I only have one more try before I'm locked out I believe. Is this a bug? What should I do?

Never mind, I fixed it! It was looking for the default sim pin for my mobile carrier.

In case anyone is wondering what their default SIM PIN might be, it varies by carrier. Here are a few I know about:

1111 for Verizon, AT&T
1234 for T-Mobile

It's not always a standard PIN. Some carriers ship there SIM with an existing PIN but turned off by default. That's often the case for eSIM. You may have to look at the information shipped with your SIM by the carrier, sometimes you can find that (also the PUK) in your account on the carriers website.
