Pixel 9 Screen-Off Unlock

I just bought a P9 upgrading from 6a. I read that Android 16 has a new 'screen-off fingerprint unlock'. I see the option when I search the settings in GOS but the option isn't there to enable in the settings. Is this not available because of google services? Or was it disabled intentially?

Google finally addressed that limitation with a new feature called Screen-off Fingerprint Unlock in a previous Android 16 beta. Or so we thought. Google has mysteriously removed the feature’s toggle in the latest beta, suggesting the company won’t launch it in the upcoming stable release.

There are also instructions to enable it via ADB in the article, but I assume there's a good reason it's still inaccessible right now.
