[Pixel 9] Black screen of death after creating a user and switching to it

Good day everyone! I have a problem.

When I went on to create a new user profile and switch to it, after clicking "Switch to" my phone's screen went totally black. It still responds to a power button press and hold (vibrates slightly, like if reboot menu was showing) and it seems to produce sounds, but screen doesn't respond. I try to hold power button for a very long time (10+ seconds), however it doesn't change anything.

I tried to get control of its screen via scrcpy, but adb doesn't recognize the device, not sure if it's because I don't have USB debugging enabled, or if it's because of some malfunction.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I managed to "fix" it by holding power button for some really unreasonable time (30 seconds or something), and the phone just force-rebooted (what I wanted to do with holding it for 10 seconds, but apparently that's not enough now). I was able to log in as owner and everything works.
Regardless, if anyone knows what the hell happened, and how do I proceed with switching users, that would help.

bobbyb haven't heard of anyone else with this issue and I just tried myself and I was able to create a new profile and switch to it without any weird things happening. If you try again, do you still get a black screen? Also, do you have a lot of users, like more than 10? And what release do you have on your device? If you're not on the latest stable version, 2025062700, make sure you're updated to the latest stable or beta versions.

other8026 Thank you for the response - I will try it after work, would hate to brick it again in case it won't be saved by force reboot.
I do have all the latest updates.
I don't have any other users at all, just the owner.

It also helps to know that you haven't heard about it before, means that even if it happens again, it would probably be fixable.

+10 seconds is not enough to force a reboot, at least a minute is needed for the 6a at least.
