Greetings all,

I had an inquiry as to a pixel device recommendation.

I have been shopping around and I am looking at potentially Pixel 9, 9a and pixel 8.

The battery life on the google pixel 9a seems quite good with the only downsides being lower ram and perhaps a slightly worse camera.

If cost is not a consideration, the regular Pixel 9 is probably the best option.

It has a significantly more efficient and secure modem over the 8 series, which was reused in the 9a. The 9 also benefits from a better display and cover glass, besides what you have already mentioned.

9a is a great device, nonetheless.

bigdata I appreciate you asking these questions because I am in the same position. I still rock a galaxy note 10 plus but i think its about time i upgrade and security is always on my mind. Im too poor to have things stolen from me :)

I wouldn't say that it should be avoided. It just comes with some additional considerations.

First, and probably most importantly, make sure it is an OEM unlockable. Either do this by buying from a reputable seller with an easy return policy and accurate product descriptions, or by requesting them to check and show you that OEM unlocking is available in the Developer Options settings.

Past that, maybe look for sellers that include a warranty. For example, Amazon renewed devices often come with a 90-day warranty; Ebay Refurbished comes with a full year warranty.
