Sparkasse pushTan-App not working anymore

I've used the S-pushTan App on my Pixel 6 with Graphene OS for some time now and never had struggles with it. However, today I tried to open it and were forwarded to this website:

I've tried enabling the "Exploit protection compatibility mode" but that did not help.
Any ideas how to resolve this issue?

I was able to run it and enroll biometrics without an issue. But perhaps I need to have an account to trigger the message.

Did you install the app from something other than Play Store? If so, try to install it from Play Store, as it might be checking for the install source and blocking anything other than Play Store.

Something like this. I can't remember or find it the exact thread.

It worked after secure app spawning was disabled.
If it works like this, renenable again afterwards if this is an option.

I use the Sparkasse app and have a different TAN verification.

I'd try what fid02 said here:

And I'd add that you'd want to be logged into Google Play and install the app from Play Store in the same profile you intend to use the app in.

I'm not familiar with the Sparkasse App but maybe you try C24 Bank which is completely free.
No Führungsgebühren and similar.
App works with GrapheneOS.

www.meinebank.de is also a complete free "Giro Konto" apps isntalled with playstore work with no trouble.

I also have a DKB Bank account and a ING brokerage Account and the apps of those two banks also work no problem. DKB bank account is free as long as there are incoming transactions of at least 700€/month they recently redid their whole banking website which is atrocious, it misses a lot of features the old one had.

can confirm that behaviour with the newest version 4.8.0.
The workaround from that other thread is unfortunately not working, I even did not manage to install an older version of that app. App is invalid.
Any suggestions?

Hello.

Same here, the App worked since months without any problem, but not anymore since some days. I followed the hints I found (disable secure App spawning, enabling native code debugging, exploit procection comp mode on) but without success. the app has been updated two days ago, I guess the issue comes with the latest version.

Any idea how to solve?

I am also affected by this. After updating to version 4.8.1, I received a warning message (mobile phone rooted / incompatible operating system) and the app no longer starts. Version 4.7.0 still ran without any problems. I have installed the App over Aurora and no Playservices are installed. The only solution at the moment is to change to version 4.7.0!

Send them a short message explaining the situation and that you might switch to another bank, if the app does not work on GrapheneOS. Explain that GrapheneOS is a very secure OS which supports hardware attestation to ensure no tampering has been made: https://grapheneos.org/articles/attestation-compatibility-guide , and that you rely on it.

I installed and updated through the Play Store with Google account logged in and have exploit protection compatibility mode active. Nevertheless the problem occurs. Surprisingly there is no notification about Play Integrity usage.

Please check with secure app spawning disabled as well if the already mentioned steps don't help.

I'm facing the exact same issue.
The app worked fine a month ago and now either crashes or redirects to the above mentioned website. I'm not entirely sure what caused the change in behaviour, but guess it is due to an app update.

The app is installed in the main profile of my phone. Installed via Play Store with Google account logged in.

Changing any of the recommended settings (including Secure App Spawning and Exploit Protection Compatibility Mode) does not fix the issue.

I don't get any notification about Play Integrity usage either when trying to start the app.

To test with secure app spawning disabled, the Exploit protection compatibility mode toggle also needs to be turned off for the app, and you should then reboot the device and test again. As per advice I once received from a GrapheneOS developer. After doing this, I've experienced with another app that app data might have to be cleared (alternatively the app can be reinstalled) (perhaps some apps cache the "root" detection status for the current install?).

I just tried again after rebooting with Exploit Protection Compatibility mode turned off and Secure App Spawning disabled. Unfortunately the app still shows the same behavior.
I'll refrain from clearing the app data for now because set up of the app is a major hassle and I'd like to prevent that if at all possible.

Deinstallation and installing an older Version from Aurora Store (Version 4.7.0 (30116) ) is a working solution. Afterwards you need to register the device in the app again, but the app ist not closing anymore.
