Brave browser built-in PDF viewer is secure?

Is it safe that the Brave browser opens PDFs with its built-in PDF viewer?

Brave opens PDFs with its built-in PDF viewer.
On the other hand, in Vanadium, first download the PDF file, and then open it using the PDF Viewer app.

Brave for Android does not seem to be able to prevent PDFs from opening in the built-in PDF viewer.
When I find PDFs in Brave, I open it in Brave's built-in PDF viewer before opening it in GrapheneOS's PDF Viewer.

So my question is, is Brave’s built-in PDF viewer secure?

JustBeginnez I remember having to change something in the settings for this, currently the behavior is identical to Vanadium on my phone.

However, I can't find anything related to this in the settings now.

JustBeginnez Brave for Android does not seem to be able to prevent PDFs from opening in the built-in PDF viewer.

What are the toggles set to for:

Open Brave > Tap the 3-dot kebab menu (⋮) > Settings > Downloads > Automatically open PDFs

Brave Shields & Privacy > Allow app links to open in apps outside of Brave

Now, from the OS System Settings > Apps > See all apps > PDF Viewer > Open by default > Open supported links

Is that toggled on for allowing web links to open in this app?

GOS has a stock PDF viewer why not use that?

Cyanide77 from my understanding that is what the OP wants to do (i.e. use the safest most secure PDF viewer: GOS PDF Viewer). AND currently Brave browser seems to be preventing that and instead using their own.

I don't use any browser other than Vanadium, so I'm unable to help here.

Brave probably uses pdfium, which is widely used in chrome and I think it's not dangerous, so I will not worry too much about it.

I will still use GOS pdf viewer for pdfs I am not sure about, though.
