Do apps in other profiles update, when the main profile updates them?

I just want to make sure im doing everything correctly. Ive been using the main profile to download everything with obtanium then going into settings and installing those apps through the options to other profiles. When the main profile updates those apps, they automatically get updated for the profiles i put them in, correct?

Hello. Yes that's the correct way to use the owner profile as a central place for app installs/updates. all your other profiles will get the updated app, Android only stores one version of the app in a location every user can access to save space. you could also update the app in any of your user folders and it gets updated everywhere :)

EmLeX932 Hey, So ive tried asking on the matrix channel and on here and ive gotten no response. Do you know how to change the default sms app in the secondary profile? I changed it to an app i go from github but for some reason the texts wont show. When i switch back to the default app all the messages come through.

EmLeX932 if you add all your apps to the man profile, won’t apps talk to each other? Wouldn’t that defeat the point of graphene os? Trying to figure this out

The idea is to disable them in the owner profile.

Probably9857 and that stops them from talking? How can they get updates if they are disabled? I understand with obtanium, but what about apps that need Google play? do you have your Google play store in the same profile as your open source apps ? Won’t Google play see and track you?

Apps that are disabled are prevented from running, and therefore communicating.

It seems like you think Play Store/Services have magical tracking capabilities that allow them to know everything you do in any profile where they are installed. There are some things it can see, yes, but it is not all-knowing. I guess it depends on what information you want to keep private from Google. If the answer is "everything" or "as much as possible," then don't install it.
