MMS Group Message

Hi,

I just installed Graphene OS on a Pixel 6a. I sent my first "group" text using Messages, and when I got replies back, they came back as new, individual texts rather than back into the group chain. I thought it might be due to not having MMS activated, so I activated it. Apparently after that, several replies happened that I didn't get at all. I haven't gotten anything from anyone I sent the group text to since then.

Any help would be appreciated. Not sure where to go from here on this.

de0u No. My last phone was a Pixel 4a running CalyxOS.

UPDATE: It looks like the issue is only happening with responses to texts I'm sending as MMS Group texts, and only if the responders are using an iPhone. I'm getting responses to group texts from Android phones right away. The other members of the group are getting the iPhone responses, but I never see them.

Might be this:
IOS Contacts app can define a contact's cell phone as an iPhone or as a regular mobile/cellular phone. Make sure you are listed in their Contacts as the latter, or else Apple will try to send you an iMessage, which you cannot receive. This is especially likely to occur when switching to an Android from an iPhone.

Also, using anything other thsn the stock messaging app has sometimes caused problems, especially outside the Admin profile. And, you might need to make sure inside that app that Settings > Advanced > Send a single MMS to all recipients is selected.

Thanks for the reply, BeepBeep. I didn't think that's the problem, though. I can still get messages from iPhone users if they send to me individually. Messages don't appear only if iPhone users send to a group that I'm a part of.

I appreciate the help. This is kind of a deal killer for me, but I'm assuming there must be a fix, or more people would have this problem.

Hi Richard! I'm having similar issues re: MMS and not receiving responses. it only seems to be with one specific group chat, though; others work fine. wanted to see if you had Any update on this or if anyone else might have an idea why certain MMS chats are working through graphene and the default messaging app on a pixel 6a, and others are not.

I've had similar issues with MMS delivery issues. What I have been observing in a group chat, I think with one user who has an IPhone, is that some MMS's give me the "New MMS Message Tap to Download". For certain MMS group messages I'm consistently getting stuck. It's been happening pretty consistently with MMS's from certain phones for the past couple of weeks. SMS always seems to go through fine.

My setup is a Pixel 7A, default message app, Verizon Sim. I have tried restarting multiple times and various settings. Been using this setup as my daily driver since around October last year and this has been my one significant snag.

I did try psf's suggestion for Google Play services (which I had previously avoided installing) and it didn't seem to resolve it for me. Wondering if there were other ideas.
