GrapheneOS will make a post about the situation later here on the forum. The kernel source code and Pixel device specific source code hasn't been released yet, and GrapheneOS team worry that or are even convinced that Google won't release the Pixel device specific source code at all for Android 16. They will explain the situation better in a little while, and what they know, and what it means exactly.

Unless for a miraculously quick established partnership with an reliable OEM for a GrapheneOS branded Device...

Hopefully that's just a one-off hiccup and the respective source code gets released anyway. Why would Google, with all the antitrust lawsuits they're dealing with already, double down in such a blatantly malicious way?

And let's remember the fact, that a senior GrapheneOS Dev got forcibly conscribed with no guarantee of a safe return home...

Molasses It is still insane that someone of his qualifications is being sent to be cannon fodder. I wonder what avenues can be taken to get him back. I am sure the team has tried quite a few.

Indeed.

From what I can tell, it was actually quite common in overall history to just draft the brightest people as well, without any consideration or remorse.

Especially these days the people actually responsible for wars pretty much never send their own sons to the front, let alone them risking their own hide in order to accomplish their own goals.

grayway2 Assuming he's Ukrainian, it's an existential war. He's draft-able, and chose not to flee / desert. Being a responsible adult, and citizen, means that you accept that with privileges (like your house not being blown up or your continued agency over your own future) come responsibilities (like being drafted and not being allowed to do what you want, or what you're most useful at).
