How difficult is it to compile once own build of GOS?

I'm a windows developer with some Linux knowledge but not excessive.
I would prefer to build GOS from source and sign with my own keys.
How complicated is the process? Can it be automated for OTAs?
What else did I forget to ask?

DavidXanatos It needs a machine with at least 64 GB of RAM, and an SSD is much better than a spinning disk.

Will do as soon as I get a pixel 10, currently on OP9 so no GOS for me yet, and i think its reasonable to wait the few months to get a P10P

May want to consider something like a used or refurbished 7A or 8A as a development/test target if the P10 is going to be a daily driver.

wizoatk How about a new 9A ? or outright 9 I saw them being as close as 80€ difference some days and other 150.
First for testing GOS then for developing and if I like it i would get some 10 pro or so once there is a stable GOS for it.

I'm quite worried that gogole is no longer releasing device trees and i read yesturday that thay want to kill side loading of unsignes APK's
What makes me think to get the best community supported phone now and then use it as long as its possible.

My personal (obviously not official) opinion after consulting my crystal ball is that there is a more than reasonable chance that we'll see GrapheneOS Stable on the released Pixel 10 series phones sometime in October.

IMO, nothing significantly wrong with any of the 8 or 9 series Pixels. I know that's not terribly helpful. But unless there's something specific you're interested in or concerned about I think it's mostly a discussion between you and your wallet.

Only applies to certified android OS. GrapheneOS is not certified.

So I got the Pixel 9 for testing, its Specs wise similar to my OP9 12GB Ram 256GB Flash so it should not feel as a downgrade.
Actually not sure if I want to get a bigger Pixel the markup on better Speced pixels seems quite shameless especially in comparison with some modern flagship killer phones.
Also I must admit that as long as I cant run a Windows 11 VM on the phone i really don't have a use case for more RAM, and no modern phone can match a 4TB SSD in therms of pocketable data storage anyways
