Hi all,
I have been using GrapheneOS for many months now and I am very happy with it. My current profile setup is an empty owner profile and a couple of extra profiles (main, banking, Google, etc.). I install apps via Obtainium and app stores in their respective profiles. At first i was happy with this but it has become a bit tedious maintaining multiple instances of Obtainium over several profiles, especially for apps like OpenBoard that are used in several profiles. I'd much rather manage them in one place.
So I would rather use the other popular setup, installing apps via the owner profile and pushing them to other profiles which should make updating and maintaining apps more convenient.
I'm looking for advice on the best way to switch setups. I know a factory reset and starting from scratch will work but this is undesirable since it will take a lot of time, I see it as a last resort. I have an idea but am unsure if it will work, here is an example OpenBoard which I use on several profiles:
- Back up OpenBoard settings
- Delete OpenBoard from all profiles.
- Install OpenBoard in the owner profile and make it available to other profiles.
Would repeating this for every app work or could I run into issues? Has anyone had similar experiences with this?
Also I am wondering if deinstalling an app purges everything or if user settings can be kept optionally.
Thank you :)
