Michiel I also use SherpaTTS, mainly for Osmand and OrganicMap for voices in French as others usually don't have French voices.

allready some time ago but I will try my luck in this thread.

Now I have this wonderfull SherpaTTS app installed, tested some voices and I have to say, that sounds not bad at all.
The point why I'm writing this is that there is no app on my system working with TTS.
Quik says no tts service available, same with osmand.

So what for are you using TTS and I wonder how did you get it to work?

Go to Settings -> System -> Language and region -> Languages -> Speech -> Text-to-speed output -> Preferred engine:-

Select Sherpa in the list, even if it shows as selected already. Assuming this 'bug' is still in place, because it's a list of options where only 1 can be selected, for some reason it always shows (showed) something as selected even if it wasn't. So click on it to be sure. Then you can click on the cog icon to configure Sherpa.

I've just been through OSMAnd but I'm once again lost in the sea of settings and cannot find where to set the TTS, asides from enabling the announcing of street names. I'm sure there was another option somewhere but the memory is lost to me.

rufus gfamily108 You haven't authorized it as a system TTS engine. It's not going to work in other applications unless you do. It has to be authorized to act as a system TTS engine and won't work as one by default even if it's the only one available.

If you use GBoard, you can have speech-to-text, and it can be private if you disable network access.

1qkv9ddu3so2irvz Thank! This works great for STT. Whas wondering what's the difference between Whisper and Whisper+, but in the end decided on Whisper+.

Yes, it's good, but Deepl still say no STT and app haven't any option to select STT. TTS with Whisper+ works great in Deepl.
