is Gcam apps safe to use? the one that people provide apk for google camera without google stuff... is it safe?

if it's safe, could you provide me a source to install it? I have pixel 7 pro.

if it's not safe, what camera app do you use other thank Graphene's cam?

Shade When it comes to the official Pixel Camera app, it depends on what you mean by "safe". I'd say it is. You don't need Google Play installed for it to work and you can remove its network permission.

Some modded version? Better to use the the official one if you ask me.

how would you install the orignal version without Google play store? even though I don't feel safe with orignal google app on my phone even with some permission removed.

I don't know a lot but as I know there are people who takes Google's camera app and remove google connection then give it to people as apk they even do it for none pixel phones. I don't know if there a trusted source to get that, that's why I'm asking.

I even wonder why didn't Graphene brought Google's camera app with hardening as they did with a lot of things like the system and some features and even play store itself.

are you talking about the offical version? I wonder why Graphene team didn't decided to harden the Camera app. but I don't feel good about downolading the orginal one and remove network permission.

Shade GOS has it's own camera. And official or Aurorastore version, even .apk from apkmirror - no difference, just download it and do not give network permission during installation popup dialog.

Not all of them revoke the network permission. GCam modders try to bring the features of Pixel Camera to other devices and don't necessarily care about privacy or security.
Plus some official Google Apps, including Pixel Camera, are benefiting from hardware acceleration on GrapheneOS.
Modded versions change the name of the app to avoid conflicting with the official one, thus not benefiting from hardware acceleration because they are not recognized by the system as the official one does (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

I think it's not open sourced, so it can't be shipped with GrapheneOS.
