Hello everyone
I understand that piling on privacy-focused extensions to a browser is not a good idea. However I do like to use LibRedirect on the desktop because it is good for both convenience and privacy. The TL;DR of this, is that any links to privacy-hostile services are automatically redirected to privacy-friendly frontends. Examples include Libreddit vs Reddit or Invidious vs Youtube. The bonus is that most of these frontends work without javascript, which I prefer to keep disabled whenever possible.
Of course if I simply want to browse Reddit, I could bookmark a Libreddit instance or use the Infinity app and go there instead. But what about when I encounter a Reddit link when reading a blog post, or as a search engine result to a question? Or a link to some other service covered by LibRedirect? I must look up or memorize the URL of a privacy-friendly frontend, copy the link to the post or video located on privacy-hostile service, and carefully edit it. It is much easier to have a browser extension that handles this. So I have several questions on this:
- Is there a reasonable way to use LibRedirect in Vanadium or to get some similar behaviour?
- Is there a privacy downside to this kind of thing that I may be unaware of?
- Is there a better alternative available?
