Why is seed vault so slow?

I write a seed vault backup to a USB stick for the purpose of loading all my stuff on m new phone, but it's extremly slow.
Its loading for 5 hours now and is only arround 50-60% percent progress.

Open_Source_Enjoyer How much data is being backed up? Flash drives tend to write quickly when they are "well rested" but can slow down a lot if a lot is written back-to-back. Or perhaps SeedVault got stuck.

I think its around 60GB if Seed Vault gets all data beside the operating system.

It has made progress, but its to slow.
My device is now at 2% battery and SeedVault seems to don't finish before its empty.

Open_Source_Enjoyer I am not a SeedVault expert, but there are ways that it could avoid backing up the same data repeatedly, so I think it's worth trying. Let us know...

I have restarted the backup now and SeedVault got in a few seconds thourgh 80% of the backup, so i assume that it doens't start from zero again but uses the already made progress.

Seed Vault failed and I just installed everthing manually.

I've given up on USB sticks for large data transfers. I now use an external SSD. Much, much faster.

fid02 Don't give up so fast. I can suggest you the SanDisk Extreme Pro SDCZ880. I have few of them and they are amazing. No failure, very fast and stable writings speed. It's really close to a good solid state drive.

I'm backing up my 256 GB Pixel 8 on a very fast 256 GB Kingston DataTraveler (which I can recommend, fast and cheap).
For around 120 GiB for the initial backup, it took less than an hour.

Many USB flash drives are super slow, a portable SSD or a fast flash drive is really helpful.
There's a large number of very fast portable SSDs and also very fast thumb drives on the market.
