patpro Yes, because that's in a separate device branch until it gets merged into mainline Android upstream.

Its always Alpha if the announcement is a few hours old. Users can track the progress of the updates by using this page. Either way, updates are usually available for Stable within 2 days so there wouldn't be much point to adding/tagging the channel to the announcement.

teezeh No, that's not how the release channel system works. Every update released to the Alpha channel moves along to Beta and then Stable unless serious issues are found during testing. It would be completely pointless to mark every single release announcement as Alpha and then edit it afterwards. It's also not possible to edit posts on all platforms. Our site already clearly lists which release is in which channel at https://grapheneos.org/releases#devices. You should read the info provided there about how the release channel system works.

I eagerly await this update to pass into stable as it may cure the bizarre battery problems and increased heat I have suffered since the last version.

area51 There's no reason it would solve an issue that's caused by your apps and configuration, not an OS update. You'll likely continue having the issue until you investigate it and determine which apps are draining your battery life, which may require disabling some apps temporarily to narrow it down.

2025042500 seems to work well on my P9PXL and Pixel Tablet, I have yet to flash it on my P6a and P7, so I don't know about these yet.
I have not tested the cellular connection nor Google Services.

GrapheneOS I only install one app a messaging app. This has been uninstalled and phone factory reset, yet power seems to disappear quicker than it ever did, the OS was updated and my phones behavior changed. In this configuration my phone could last five possibly six days with my minimal usage. Now it lasts less than 36 hours, I just want the new update to clear to stable so I can install it and see if things improve. Stranger things have happened!

Please can we make it optional to disable?

For reasons maybe users doesn't use emergency calls, or as WiFi only phone, or prevent accidental dialling that gives away phone identifier?

lvo You can remove the launcher icon from your home screen. Allowing disabling the system Dialer when another Dialer has been installed was unsafe and shouldn't be allowed Android via the standard UI since it always uses the system Dialer for emergency calls and cannot use another. We don't recommend disabling it via ADB and don't recommend using ADB on a production device. We won't stop people doing that but we will stop people doing something which is dangerous in a way that's not at all clear to people via the UI. Several people were unable to make emergency calls due to disabling this and that's not something we want to be blamed for.

Pavestone2734 It's not a privacy/security gain. Disabling incoming calls would be a separate thing and disabling the Dialer app doesn't really do that.

Besides surveillance capitalism, just know the opposite can be true if you're in similar situation like Princess Latifa, corrupted system whom cartels and authorities are patting each other's back, war zones, or targeted simply for your belief, ethnicity, nationality so on.

Also human error is more common than you think, and even small oopsie can land you in real big trouble.

I can second. The low power discharge period was significantly shortened with one of the earlier 2025 updates.
Across all my devices, over-night drain seems to be doubled.
My always-plugged office-P7 - on battery as soon as I pull fuses over night - starts now with 74% capacisty in the morning, where it was 78% in 2024 (Airplane mode over night)!
But also regular usage showed simultaneously increased power consumption across all devices (three P7, one Tablet).
Cycling home from office with background GPS tracker strains battery from 80 down to 64% in 35 Minutes.
With similar temperatures in November it was more like 80->72% in 35 Minutes if I remember correctly, unfortunately I can't tell proven/recorded numbers.
When 1st noted the regresseion, I stumbled across

But this seems to be fixed meanwhile.
There always have been reports about high battery drain after updates, which I never could follow on the longer term, but some months ago all my devices lasted significantly longer, no matter what usage. Most salient impairment is standby in airplane mode - observed over months here.

area51 huberto Your apps, networks and other configuration are what's determining your battery life. You're adding more apps, etc. as time goes on. You're attributing it to an OS update without evidence.

My phone is GrapheneOS and nothing else and it behaved without issue. Then the ONLY constant that changed was the OS to 2025041100 then its behavior was different, my phone was warm where it had not been before, my battery consumption was quicker when it had been much slower, I follow the data, its pointing at the OS, you may not like it, but thats what is happening with my phone. Anyway I have installed 2025042500, factory reset, and no apps other than what comes with GrapheneOS, so now I wait and see.

I have also observed high battery drain and hotter phone since beginning of April, although I didn't link it to that specific update. I thought it started a few days earlier. I made some configuration changes around that time (new cellular subscription with another carrier, and one new app installed). I have tried many things without success. In about 5 days I may be able to fully revert my setup to how it was before and see.

The high battery drain continued with this new release by the way, but that would be expected. I don't think it is an OS update that caused it. It may be a configuration change, or maybe a firmware component update.

It likely has to do with this. Staying connected to cellular is the main use of battery power while idle.
