I suspect the issue is that the post in question ( DeletedUser313 ) made a factual claim ("wouldn't stand a chance") that is incorrect and contradicts available documentation. It is best to express curiosity in the form of questions, not statements.

DeletedUser313 If getting the keys is the only way to enter (no figurative breaking of windows) than the guy passing through border patrol from the other thread would be safe if he was just willing to reset his phone.

Perhaps safe, or perhaps in jail. It is prudent to discuss this sort of thing with an attorney who is qualified to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction. It is arguably very risky to receive legal advice from people who don't even know which country's laws are being discussed.

DeletedUser313 The phone actually is shipped to a third party company, and after many resets and installing all the different OS'S available before shipping to them I seriously doubt they will be able to retrieve my data, but even if they do I change my email/phone number with each new phone.

I read that the Pixel 9a uses an older modem, has anyone encountered issues with it? And more generally has everyone's experience with this phone been without issue?

I just loaded GrapheneOS on a Pixel 9a on 5/22. Everything is fine, but on 4 occasions ( as of 5/29/25) I have had it freeze up with a white screen after entering the PIN to unlock it. It will then display (text no icons) a choice of restart or power off. It takes a while, but it does re-start and work fine after that. Since the Pixel 9a was new out of box, I'm wondering if it is hardware or software. Everything else works well. Maps, banking apps etc.

and Google did delay shipping because of 'component quality issues'. I'm not familiar with Pixels as a whole so idk if this is common or an outlier

I own a Pixel 9a with GOS for a few weeks now. It's working great. It still might be problem that it is not part of the official releases, but it gets security updates: https://grapheneos.org/releases#tegu

Got a pixel 9a too, but the battery life, at least for now, isn't great at all. It lasts at most 1 day, on wifi, sim in 4g mode and 6 background apps which just check for notifications. Also AOD is enabled but I use my phone at most 30 minutes a day. Though, it has to be considered that the phone still isn't on the main branch, so this problem might be solved by the time the device "joins" the main branch

NoSh3ll I absolutely do not have this experience, I have my battery charge capped at 80% for longevity, and at the end of the day it's at 60-50%. And I actually use it throughout the day.

You should check to see if you have an app that's draining it for you, because that is a wildly different experience than mine.

NoSh3ll What I've noticed on my Pixel 7 is that when I restrict battery usage on Google Play Services my battery drains faster. It could be that.

GinGear Haven't really had much time to tinker with the pixel sadly. The old phone, which ran lineage os with a 4820 mAh battery (low end phone) lasted me about 2 days with the same apps besides microg, but well, it might be a Me problem, just wanted to share my experience!

Endless I have the sandboxed play services on private space, but I only use it maybe three times a week, also the device reboots every night, so the play services aren't probably running during the day.
