other8026 Pavestone2734 I have never heard of this happening. If it is happening, it would be helpful to have steps to recreate the issue so that it can be looked into. Without being able to recreate and without logs, it's virtually impossible for the developers to do anything about what you're reporting here.
IcyScroll Pavestone2734 Please save system logs. As other8026 said, it's not possible to find out what is happening without steps to reproduce or logs. I personally have never experienced your issue.
someone27281 DeletedUser237 that's what they are doing for all their changes (that's not upstream). I say this is a security, more like privacy feature that worth maintaining.
DeletedUser237 someone27281 (that's not upstream) And that's the thing. Adding something that is not upstream is not the same as modifying a piece of code that not only is upstream but also is a core OS piece..
Pavestone2734 Happened again, only the Orbot VPN entry didn't disappear, and just the Always on VPN toggle and the Block connections without VPN toggle was OFF.
IcyScroll Pavestone2734 Hold on. Have you switched active VPN app? Afaik directly switching VPN to be handled by a different app does not enable killswitch feature for the new app. Not sure about Always on VPN toggle.
rustybird Pavestone2734 Happened again, only the Orbot VPN entry didn't disappear, and just the Always on VPN toggle and the Block connections without VPN toggle was OFF. Did you (maybe accidentally) boot into Safe Mode? IIRC it turns off both toggles and the turned off state persists even after exiting Safe Mode.
Pavestone2734 rustybird That maybe it. I did try out safe mode yesterday. But this was the first time I tried it, so the previous issues were due to something else.
Open_Source_Enjoyer Pavestone2734 This profile effectively disappeared on my Owner profile which deanonymized my Google Play account. I only noticed because app downloads only took a few seconds instead of minutes. This could be absolutely tragic for someone with a high threat model. @pxlkng another reason why anonmized Google Play is not the solution.
Upstate1618 I can't think of even one factor that could cause this. Btw you can monitor the status bar to see a key icon on it to make sure VPN is on. Maybe it's someone else who turns off it (jk
Pavestone2734 Upstate1618 Btw you can monitor the status bar to see a key icon on it to make sure VPN is on. That is how I noticed it.
Upstate1618 I'm an all-time VPN user and I have not met this issue once. What's your OS version? What's the last thing you do before you notice VPN disappears?
