Hey everyone. Newbie here. I'm trying to side load the Mint Mobile apk for a project (more on that later) but it either crashes or tries to open up my Organic Maps app.

There are many sites that have the mint mobile apk and I've tried many versions with the same issue. Using a pixel 7 on graphene that is up to date.

Any ideas?

How do I build or download an APK file?

Because I wasn't aware of it until a few minutes ago lol. I use f Droid.

However when I downloaded aurora it asked for all sorts of strange permissions that raised my eyebrow. I'll give it a try on the phone in the next day or so.

Ghost111 aurora, from what I see, only has permissions for: network, notifications, and sensors. It will also need permission to install applications.

Not too sure what you are seeing

To note: aurora is insecure, it doesn't properly authenticate SSL certifications the way Play Store does or verify app metadata. Its best to use the Play Store.

raccoondad why does it matter if Aurora is 'insecure'? Can you please explain the ramifications of that?

To the original question, I actually did try the Aurora store and was able to download the Mint Movile app. When I tried to open it the first time i got an error, but when I opened it from the icon on the desktop it seemed to work ok.

The ramification is its insecure compared to Google Play Store and has way more attack vectors and problematic design choices (such as app versions sometimes being incorrect)

You still end up sharing about the same amount of the data as well, the only difference is that you don't need a google account or to install google play services.
