I used to use etar, unfortunately I've found the reminders to be unreliable (sometime they work, but sometimes not) so beware!

Yeah, I decided against installing it after all as soon as I noticed that their source code repository didn't provide APK files, which meant my options were limited to F-Droid and Play Store.

I try to limit my usage of Play Store as much as I possibly can. I have all that stuff on a secondary profile, so it would be very inconvenient to have to switch to it back and forth just to look at my calendar. As for F-Droid, the less I have to say about that, the greater the odds of this thread staying on its rails.

Looks like I'm sticking with Fossify Calendar. Not that I'm complaining, it works well for me. I was just curious to ser if the grass was greener on the other side.

I'm only just now having the problem that I need to have my calendar synced between profiles, and I love Fossify Calendar too much to use something like Proton or Tuta calendar or any other calendar. Is my only solution a self hosted one? I've gone this long without needing something like this, kinda hoping there's a third alternative.

No although this is a good option. If you have DAVx5 you can sync almost any calendar provider and it pops up in any calendar app including fossify.

I use fossify calendar + davx5 + Radicale (selfhosted server) . Everything works good, previos I use Tuta , but I switch to Migadu for email .

gk7ncklxlts99w1 davx5 syncs "online"/external caldav provider with your phone calendar storage, so no, you don't have to be online to use your calendar

you can even go as far as running caldav srv on your phone (like radicale+termux), and backup ics files using syncthing or similar, but that's a different story

Are you of the opinion that use of davx5 requires a self-hosted server? If so, you are incorrect. Davx5 can sync with ANY online calendar provider, even including gcal.

I don't understand, how can you sync without internet? Without internet you would not be able to sync anything.

gk7ncklxlts99w1 He means that once its synced, it will continue to work even when you don't have internet access. Once you have connection again, it will two-way sync any changes made.

gk7ncklxlts99w1 if to come back to your case of cross-profile calendar sync without an internet, then indeed your only option is to self-host caldav server on your phone itself (like via termux, or, maybe check the new Terminal that is supposed to be much better/safer than Termux) and run DavX5 in your other profiles connecting to your radicale server running in owner (if you're ok with that setup from all other aspects).

My earlier attempt to make calendar sync across multiple clients to be based purely on set of ics files - failed (to avoid a need for caldav server). At that moment I found no tools to really synchronize phone's local calendar storage with ics files. Majority of tools are backup-restore that is not the same as sync (no merge, really).
However, if for some reason you don't need to sync (including merge), then you may be fine without the local caldav server and all you need is just file-sync across profiles (I think you don't even need to run Termux then) - maybe it will work even with Syncthing app

Fyi I kind of solved my problem in a different way. I decided that I would use my main calendar on one profile, and for the other profile I would just have a temporary calendar when I'm away from home, and transferring that over to the other profile shouldn't be too hard.
