This has happened several times and just now I noticed the phone restarted by itself.

There was no notification or reason I just looked over and saw the startup screen... and I guess this could explain why I keep dropping out of my user profile.

I did a search and found discussions that referenced an auto-restart timer but I can not find it in settings to change it or turn it off.

Where is this setting located?

the auto reboot timer starts after last unlock, you're phone won't reboot of you are using it. it's probably a bug, did you had a crash notification with logs after the reboot?

smjohnston and for the records, the auto reboot timer defaults to 18 hours, the setting is found under Security > exploit mitigation> auto-reboot.

It does indeed sound like your phone's auto reboot timer is doing this.

You can check in Settings: Security & privacy > Exploit protection > Auto reboot.

I have no Auto reboot under Exploit protection. It is actually the first place I looked after trying to search for 'reboot' in settings.... could it be somewhere else? perhaps I need to enable something first?

smjohnston It is common for me to go 18 hours without using my phone. I got no crash notifications.

If auto reboot is doing this then it's a graceful reboot, so you're not meant to receive crash notifications.

smjohnston You don't need to do anything for the setting to show up, unless you're on a highly outdated OS version or EOL device, in which case auto reboot won't show up if the OS version doesn't have the feature.

What device model are you using? And what is your build number?

I wouldn't care about auto-reboot but when it does restart it goes to the owner profile not the user profile... which is what I use. Is there a way of setting which profile it defaults to when booting.. it would be nice if that was a thing.

smjohnston That's strange; device isn't EOL and and it's not out-of-date. The problem might be much simpler but I might be starting to run short of ideas here. Maybe try rebooting? And give Auditor a shot just to rule things out.

I had one of those head dropping on the desk moments. I was looking for the setting while in the user profile. After switching to the owner profile the setting appeared.
                Thanks.
                What is Auditor?
