  • An idea for GOS: Enhanced pin entering

I have an idea for the graphene team:

We all know what it feels like when we are at a networking event and numbers are exchanged... Often people will ask you to call the other person right away to add their contact info. Or tell you to scan their business card QR code.

This happened to me, and I didn't want to open my phone and enter my pin because of course it's right in front of the other person.

I also don't really like finger print option though I'm glad Graphene offers it.

So here's my idea:

You know in the captcha confirmations how the icons conceal an image that we all are familiar with? I propose adding an option to enter the pin with the numbers slightly concealed or camouflaged but enough you can read or recognize them if you look fairly closely. To set it up, you as the user would select from a list of 50 pre-designed varieties of a single camoflauged number, so you're familiar with it. So when you see the pin numbers display in the rotating format, you'll be able to recognize the numbers while the onlooker won't. Going even beyond this, have a custom extreme option where the user can custom select her own created symbols that equate to numbers...like a code only she knows. Maybe a triangle equates to 5 and a car to 4. These would take the place of numbers on the pin pad.

Does that make sense? Maybe call it Iron Garden or something since each number would be slightly hidden like finding things in those "find the object" garden pictures magazines used to have.

OK hope that's not a laughable idea.

Thank you for listening.

I suppose this will not happen as it probably will add a bunch of 'unnecessary' code, which in return might increase potentional attack surface.

In your given usecase i would advice scrambled pin, perhaps in addition with a privacy screen.

K8y I am not sure what networking events you attend but I always bring an old phone to any security conference or a gig like a concert or anything. First of all if I lose it or it's getting stolen no problem, sim replacement and you're good to go. Second I really don't have to worry about any skids doing stupid shit just for fun and giggles.

    Don't fix what's not broken.
