Good morning. I picked up a new Pixel 8 two days ago, and wanted to run Grapheneos. I have used Calyxos for a number of years, and its worked well for me past a few annoying things (it was on an older 4a5G, so perhaps it was hardware related).

Anyways, the new phone currently has Calyxos on it again, because I wanted the stock OS off as soon as possible. So here is my conundrum: neither PC I have in this house will seemingly allow the phone to be 'seen' to allow the automated unlock bootloader. I don't believe the cable is at fault, as it has allowed me to load Calyxos just fine. There is something else causing me an issue... and I don't know what. I have to change the setting in the phone each time I plug it into a USB port, to tell it to do anything other than 'charging'.

I just read in another thread a few minutes ago here, that you can load Grapheneos from one Android to another... can someone explain this to me? I still have the 4a5G with Calyxos on it... so I am willing to give it a go that way.

Thanks

    Hello!

metalsped I have to change the setting in the phone each time I plug it into a USB port, to tell it to do anything other than 'charging'.

Sounds like you're not in fastboot mode.

I was in fastboot. I actually looked up some previous posts you made while waiting for my post to clear... and I was able to get graphenos up and running on my pixel 8 via android -> android install with ease. Thanks

Awesome. Yeah the Android to Android approach tends to be the most reliable and generally avoids these weird connection problems that can be quite random and difficult to troubleshoot. Not sure why it didn't work the first time around, especially given you tried multiple computers.
