Thunderbird wont show any notification

hello. ive Thunderbird.
even tho i get emails, i never got any notification for the app. everything is set on in the notifications settings. is that a known issue?
what can i do to fix it?

It would likely be productive to list which settings have been made.

Also, what is the battery optimization setting for the app?

Does it never show notifications, or just often not?

Check if you granted "Notification Permissions" for the app.
In Thunderbird - check if the folder-specific notifications are enabled --> Hamburger Menu >> Manage Folder >> Pick Inbox or the folder you are looking for >> Notification (toggle).

If "never" then I think Oggyo 's suggestion should be followed first. If it were just "often not" then I would suggest unrestricted battery usage.

Check in the App Info - if the Messages notification is not set to Silent, etc.

May I add to this discussion? Notifications do not work for me eirher. Notably, although the permissions are on, they are all listed under "unused app settings". (I have noticed that some privileges for several apps end up in unused app settings, I have assumed this has something to do with the OS.) I am running sandboxed play services/playstore (I needed carrier app to set up phone). I am using latest thunderbird from f-droid.

So, it turned out I did not have notifications turned on in the Thunderbird account settings. It also turned out I did not have notifications enabled in apps->special privileges for google play services. I enabled both and notifications are now working. Not sure if I needed play services notifications enabled or not.

I have been using Thunderbird and K9 a long time. (I could not get oauth to work for my gmail account though.)

Hi! For anyone else following this thread, I had exactly the same problem of thunderbird not sending notifications on graphene OS. I ended up solving this problem by going sidebar->manage folders->inbox->enable push.

Then you can disable the "Waiting for new emails" by clicking it, pressting "Configure notifications", it'll then take you to a page for configuring the sync notification specifically, if you disable show notifications there, it'll disable only the sync notification and still send you push notifications for your emails like normal, and everything should work! :D
