I installed graphene on the pixel 6. I have a problem with both the stock camera and the gcam. More or less every 4 or 5 photos (with both apps ) taking a photo causes the phone to freeze and reboot. Any ideas?

    Sorry to hear that's happening.

Did you install GrapheneOS on the device recently, or a while ago?

Is this an issue that just recently started? Did the Camera work fine before on the device?

    Installed last week....

      Franzfume Installed last week....

Was the device run for a while on Google's OS, including taking pictures? If not, there might be a problem with the camera hardware.

de0u yes I put graphene after stock android

Franzfume Is it possible to provide a bit more detail? For example, was the device running Google's stock OS for some months, with pictures being taken frequently? Or was the device recently acquired, without a substantial number of pictures being taken before GrapheneOS was installed?

Franzfume Well, I'm grasping at straws, but you could try to power off the phone (not reboot, power it off), wait a few seconds (perhaps half a minute), then power it on again and see if the problem persists.

de0u i buyed this P6 used. I installed graphene immediately never use stock (by me) in this phone

Franzfume Though it would be disruptive, it might be diagnostic for you to flash the device back to Google's OS and try taking pictures. If Google's OS crashes when it tries to take pictures, then most likely the camera is broken. If taking pictures works fine on Google's OS, there might be a bug somewhere in GrapheneOS.

Alternatively, you could try collecting a crash dump after a crash. Here are some directions: https://discuss.grapheneos.org/d/302

But if you have just started using the device it might be most straightforward to see whether it crashes while taking pictures using Google's OS.

de0u he can also install several other camera apps and test them prior to flashing back to stock. If they all fail, likely camera hardware is affected.

That is indeed much less disruptive, but also maybe harder to interpret. If several camera apps fail on GrapheneOS it might still be the case that a factory reset of GrapheneOS might fix a grievous settings issue.

                  Overall, experimentation seems prudent.
