GrapheneOS
GrapheneOS That's wrong. There's no difference between how this works between GrapheneOS and the stock Pixel OS. There's no bug related to it in GrapheneOS. Your device is misconfigured. You have developer options enabled and likely made broken changes there and potentially with ADB. A factory reset should resolve your issues.
Thanks for the reply. :) I fear that you may have misinterpreted me to some degree. First, I want to apologize if I made the impression that I blame GrapheneOS or its developers for any of this. I'll try to express myself clearer in the future to avoid misunderstandings.. :)
I don't expect you to fix this problem, although I would be super greatful for any input or help you may have. :) And perhaps give us pointers to how we can investigate and extract logs in order to find the source of the issue.
Regarding the quote you respond to:
It was just an impression I had, I hope it was clear from my wording I didn't make any hard claims and it was never my intention to place blame, but rather to search for the root of the issue that strongly interferes with my workflow and usage of my device. :) I never felt certain about any hypothesis and I hope I didn't make that impression.
What I wrote was merely intended as suggestions or brainstorming and I wish to get other opinions on it. :) I simply want to solve this mystery.
In regards to your claim that my device is misconfigured:
- There are cases of this issue being present without Developer Options enabled, so I don't see how this has to be the source of the problem. At the very least, there would have to be multiple possible sources to this issue, considering the fact that the issue can exist without Developer Options enabled.
- I feel like you make some hasty assumptions about my configuration in regards to Developer Options and beyond. I provided a detailed brief of the full extent to which I altered settings in Developer Options. :)
- I have never used ADB on this device. Neither before or after I flashed to GrapheneOS.
- There's also the fact that I haven't had this issue before the Android 15 major update and my Developer Option configuration was unchanged compared to before. I've had it enabled on all my phones for a decade. Different phones, different OSs. I'm not saying it's GrapheneOSs fault, it's merely a data point. I make no assumptions about it. :)
In my opinion, doing a factory reset is not only a hasty action, but it also wouldn't actually get to the bottom of anything. If that resolved it, it would only tell us that "something" caused it and that this "something" was changed after the factory reset, whatever it may be. So the issue could potentially come back at any point, only we wouldn't know what to do differently or if it was something the user did at all. Perhaps it has nothing to do with user configuration at all.
I'd rather actually find what's causing this. To me, that's more important than actually fixing it, if fixing it means we never find the source of the problem. If we find what's causing this, it'll be a learning experience and it can help others, possibly without resorting to factory reset. That's the goal. ^^,
GrapheneOS Did you configure their devices for them? What you're describing is not the normal behavior of GrapheneOS.
I configured some of them, but not all. :)
Thanks for confirming that. Though, I wasn't expecting this to be the normal behavious of GrapheneOS.
GrapheneOS You should not have anything set as Unrestricted unnecessary. It should only be given to apps which actually need it and know how to use it.
I'm aware. Though, some apps need it and some apps are important in that I never, for any reason, want them to not have resources available. Do you think this can influence anything?
