Oh yeah, you can't edit your posts after a few minutes. :-(

I can't actually find this option in the launcher settings, and, I already have 5x5 anyway.

My initial reaction was because I've been hoping for a denser option, and I thought this was it.

The new version was pushed to Alpha just seconds ago. Did you sideload?

As far as 4x5 grid size, will this change give us the ability to use proper 2x2 widgets without taking half of the screen instead of 2x1?

This release wasn't posted on your mastadon (I think it's down atm?)

sustained5314 Something went wrong with the server our Mastodon instance runs on several hours ago. We've restarted it and it's working again. The post for this release also had to be redone.

Amazing. I hope the owner lock method in early boot access will be part of the next update.

Hello, I appreciate the 4x5 grid but could you add 6x7 and 5x6 and auch? I'm using display size lowest, so I can add more stuff bud the 5x5 grid is always to "big". I wish there would be more fore people with low display appearance settings.

Shrunk836 Thats also the reason i use a custom launcher to use 5x7. Probably we as users are a niche so i don't really see it coming as an option on the gos launcher.

However i would love to ditch that 'buggy' custom launcher as the only reason i use it is this, and this launcher probably increases attack surface.

Guys what's the default display size, text size and grid layout? I've changed all the settings after the update and now I can't get it to look "normal" 😬 (not a GOS by the way just purely user error)

It's not updating for me. Just keeps saying "Device is up-to-date" whenever I check manually.

orly It's in the Alpha and Beta channels until we get more feedback due to 2 reports of issues with VoLTE which are likely just carrier issues unrelated to the update but we aren't getting enough responses to our request for feedback about it in our testing channel.

Are there any options to activate in the settings with this update?

VoLTE is working for me with latest Alpha build on P8 (eSIM) and P9P (physical SIM).

I'd love to have a 640x480 launcher. Is it for the next release? /s

We're unable to move the release to the Stable channel due to 1 report of VoLTE no longer working on a 9th generation Pixel, another report of VoLTE temporarily not working on a 9th generation Pixel and a report of Wi-Fi texting temporarily not working without details on device model. We haven't received enough feedback about it still working so we can't move forward.

updated today, all is well, P8. Saw that there were some important updates on this one. Good job as usual.

Okay, after reading your status info I have made test calls and texting with my Pixel 9 Pro XL with newest release:
I am ever using 5G and if not available then LTE. I never use 2G, this switch is permanently off.
So my calls are ever VoLTE (Pixel phones in Europe cannot use 5G SA for calling because of Google :-( ).

(SIM cards from German providers – no 3G available – I only mention it as a precaution)

                1. Flight mode switched on
                2. WLAN switched on, using my Pixel 7 Pro as WLAN Hotspot as usual
                3. made a call (Time announcement service, because at this time early in the morning I don't wanna wakeup anyone)
                4. sent a few texts as SMS to my other smartphones (via WiFi connection)
                5. answered the successful sent and received text messages (SMS) via mobile radio to my Pixel 9 Pro XL
                6. switched off the flight mode to make a regular VoLTE call via mobile radio (Time announcement service again)

Conclusion: everything worked as it should.
