Hi all,

I am trying to use ESPN Plus. For some reason when I try to view a video, I am getting this error message in the log: Caused by: android.system.GaiException: android_getaddrinfo failed.

My assumption, ESPN must be trying to access location and IP address, because I am using proton, it is preventing it.

Has anyone used ESPN plus and Graphene OS?

DeletedUser160 Perhaps they're blocking Proton's DNS server IPs and VPN exit IPs. It would make sense if they have region locked content.

DeletedUser160 Bit worried that this will be seen as an advertisement, but on the other hand I think it might answer your question:

ProtonVPN brags on their support site that users of their paid plan can stream ESPN Plus if they connect to a ProtonVPN Plus server located in the United States (this is, I'm guessing, probably through them renting residential IP addresses which streaming services don't block). If you're doing that, and you're still having issues, you could try contacting their support.

fid02 Thanks for this piece of info, will come in handy ;) Also yeah, as you said this is 99% a residential proxy they use as an egress point or they have some low lvl very local provider which is not blocked by ESPN.
