hello,
is it planned to introduce a dark mode for the native messaging and contacts apps? force override in developer settings messes up the keyboard (still no news about the persistent number row there?) and doesn't stick when rebooting. thx & br
Dark mode for AOSP apps used in GrapheneOS
prompter Hi there!
I understand that some of the AOSP apps that come with the OS are not ideal right now, and lack of dark mode is part of that.
The project has already added dark mode for some of the apps that didn't previously have it and is still interested in doing it for other apps, but as you can imagine, that's low priority compared to security and privacy enhancements.
Some of the apps are also eventually going to be replaced (apps such as the AOSP gallery are an example) with much more modern alternatives.
I would recommend against messing with developer options generally. They often don't work as intended to (as you have experienced) and are more likely to break things rather than fix them.

Will those alternatives be of third party code compiled and released by GOS or from scratch by GrapheneOS?
[deleted] I don't have any concrete answers to give you here. There have previously been cases where to project has considered adopting a project to use with GrapheneOS. The app would have to be modern, robust, secure and meeting the project's requirements along with being permissively licensed.
In other cases where no viable alternatives existed, the project created its own app (like the GrapheneOS Camera app).
