I attempted to subscribe to tap to pay today, it got through every step until it was on "Adding card..." before getting an error that Vipps didn't hear back from my bank. Retrying it now errors early stating "This didn't work. ☹️" and to try again later.

Anyone had a different experience? Got sandboxed Play Store on the Owner account. Only idea is that i breifly uninstalled and reinstalled Play Services, which could maybe have caused an issue?

Sofie Well, I tried to set up tapping on GrapheneOS with my one bank that supports it, and it failed at "Contacting bank". Then I installed the app on a phone with stock PixelOS (January 2025 patch level) and I'm receiving the same error there.

It gives a useful error message, though:

Sofie I finally received a reply from one of my banks. According to them, tap to pay is only available for use with debit cards at the moment. Sounds like support for credit cards might come in the future. My main bank now added support for tap to pay and I had no problems with registering it with tap to pay with a debit card. Haven't tested in a store yet, but it probably works fine. 😉

Tap to pay with Vipps works for me. I paired it with my Sbanken/DNB debit card. My colleague with a stock Pixel 8 can't use it with his bank (Nordea). Maybe your bank doesn't support tap to pay with Vipps?

working vipps here as well. Sparebanken debit card works just fine.

So vipps/mobilepay actually works with tap to pay on GOS for some. This is pretrty huge?
Still need to hsve GPS installed though, so not ideal

Vipps doesn't need location.
The only permissions I grant Vipps is network and notifications.

I think they meant Google Play Services. Vipps refuses to run without it.

Oops, you're right, I can't believe I missed that.

Yeah, correct. Hoping that it will work too in Denmark when it comes out here, looks promising as far as having contactless payment on GOS, which will be a huge improvement towards the perfect setup.

But curious why only some of you here are able to make ik work, but that sounds like a bank specifik problem, not a Vipps problem

I have a SBanken card.

This is the message I get after the "Adding..." stage gets stuck:

This didn't work ☹️

There was radio silence from the systems we use to activate your card.

Please try again later, and we'll do our best to get the info we need.

Interestingly I get past the contacting bank stage. So there may be multiple issues at play for different people.

Also it doesn't seem to be a bank related issue, since @Frost has it working with SBanken, while I cannot.

My GrapheneOS build version is 2025012700 if that is of help.

I used tap to pay for the first time in a store today and it worked fine.
