Google Clock Alarm | Display doesn't stay on

The following problem has been occurring since I switched from P6 to P7:

The Google Clock app alarm works when the display is off / device is locked. But the screen doesn't stay on. It flashes on for a second and then goes black again. I have to press the power button 2x to get it to turn back on. Like I turn it off first and then turn it back on. Then I can turn off the alarm even when it is locked.

The stock clock app works as expected without this issue.

Reinstalling the app did not fix the error. I did not have this problem on my P6. I also gave the app all permissions which didn't fix it either.

johnsavage Hi there! I believe I've seen a couple more instances of people reporting this who all have Pixel 7 or 7 Pro devices.

I've got a Pixel 6 and tested it the other day; worked like a charm.

I'm almost wondering if Google's done something to the app that breaks it on 7th gen Pixels in that way... have you checked whether it works fine on Stock OS?

when i googled it, i also found similar reports, but none that fit 100%.

generally it seems to work on stock os according to reports. but i have no way to check without installing it. and that's not an option for now because the effort to set up grapheneos again is too big for that.

but it seems google has some problems with the feature. So I hope there will be a fix from their site soon.

seems like this is fixed with TQ1A.221205.011 base. at least in my tests where i could usually reproduce the error.

I got another confirmation from a different user that the latest alpha fixes this.
