Hi,

The main applications for contacts, phone, message, gallery and file manager, as we all know, are disgusting, both visually and technically.

Can GOS consider replacing and integrating the Fossify organization's applications? The applications are open source, respect privacy and have very limited authorization.

Are these possible or on the roadmap?

Stewart Can GOS consider replacing and integrating the Fossify organization's applications?

If that happens, I will uninstall GOS the second the update goes to the alpha channel.
Fossify apps are full of buggy spaghetti code and the only thing they have going for them, is visuals. I tried most of them and dislike most of them. The calendar is somewhat usable, the rest is just ridden with bugs.

Seriously, it's with the default apps that I have bugs, visual and technical, I haven't encountered any bugs with Fossify apps, and haven't for a long time.

        Stewart

        Buggy calls to 911/112
"Sorry for (unintentionally) locking you guys out of your devices." unfixed for 3 months
        Subsequent alarms don't ring

and the list goes on. The developers also have no understanding of security, updates regularly take half a year (or more) and they have around as many open Github issues on their apps as the whole of GrapheneOS. Adding Fossify apps would then DOUBLE the amount of work the GOS team has to handle.

@DeletedUser87 I didn't know all that, I didn't think apps had so many bugs and flaws?

@Dumdum Thanks for the link, I'm glad to hear that GOS is looking into it.

That's not the issue per se. If they were able to fix them in a timely manner, it wouldn't be a problem. But they don't. They are obviously overwhelmed by the amount of work and they clearly lack the professionalism to handle bugs in the first place. See the last few responses in this thread.
I don't know what their lead dev is smoking, but it must be some really good stuff.

DeletedUser87 Thanks for the info, I didn't know, I thought the project was much more serious than that in terms of security, plus GOS is going to update the default apps which I'm looking forward to.

            No.
its best to stick to aosp apps and then let everyone else the liberty to install the apps according to their choices, threat model or eye-candy-ness.
GOS is not about looks anyway.

Yet, GOS looks better than any other OS I’ve ever seen. I love my simple black background and lock screen! Add Lawnchair or Nova with Arcticons and it’s like this phone, from top to bottom, was custom made with all my requested features...specifically for me!

I really cannot overstate how happy I am with GrapheneOS. It ticks all my boxes and brightens my day. <3
