Problems setting up text-to-speech (TTS) using RHVoice

I am trying to setup RHVoice to use text-to-speech in Organic Maps and Home Assistant.

I followed the instructions by user N1b here. But for some reason unknown to me it is not working. Here is what I did:

Install RHVoice from F-Droid.
Grant Network access and download language packs for English (United States).
Go to Settings > Accessibility > Text-to-speech output
Select Preferred engine to RHVoice (this was already selected as it is the only TTS engine I have installed)
Select English (United States) as Language. Default is Use system language.

The last step seems to fail: When I select English (United States) it closes the Settings Dialog and returns me to the Accessibility menu. When I reopen the Text-to-speech output menu is again set to Use system language.

Is there perhaps an additional permission that I need to set?

In the Apps I see the following behavior:

Organic Maps : The toggle button for Voice Instructions is disabled and hence cannot be activated.
Home Assistant : I get the error message Failed to initialize a text to speech engine, when I send a notification to the phone that uses TTS.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Found the solution directly after writing the question...

I found it in the Documentation:
Under Preferred engine (see previous post), you need to actually tap on the RHVoice, even though it is pre-selected. This will show a privacy warning that you need to accept. Only thereafter is the TTS engine actually activated. And then it worked for me.
