No image previews in default gallery app

Did the issue start right after updating to this version or just randomly? Since it's not clear based on the description here, I've renamed this thread.

You can try clearing the gallery app's storage to see if that fixes it. You can do that here: Settings > Apps > All apps > Gallery > Storage and cache > Clear storage

Why? Seems prudent to have a separate thread for each issue. And I imagine that helping users into doing some basic troubleshooting before submitting a Github issue is generally desirable.
