On my last GOS instalation I had to activate esim BEFORE flashing GOS.
Flashing a new device, is it the same procedure ?
I want to avoid to have to install Google Services to activate esim

    ice if you wish to avoid utilising the privileged eSIM activation with sandboxed pkay services you should indeed be able to follow the same procedure as before.

    Maybe @flawedworld the resident carrier expert can clarify and confirm that in either case the only additional information Google receives in both cases is your IMEI number.

        If doing it via sandboxed google service, do I need to install it only on the main profile ? (And it will work in the other profiles)

            ice yes just the main profile, once the eSIM is activated they can be removed if you want to.

              I installed the sandboxed play services, now tried to enable eSIM management - now I can hit the button and scan an eSIM QR code but then it loops endlessly on "Network information is being checked" ... do I need to check a box somewhere or is something buggy? (Pixel 4a)

                ebowski have you installed all 3 packages? (Store, GSF, Play Services?)

                Also ensure you go to *#*#4636#*#* and enable DSDS (DualSim Dual Standby) it is just above Run Ping Test.

                      ve3jlg to clarify they shouldn't but they would be in a position to do so. I also agree which is why I don't use an eSIM myself. However GrapheneOS is for everyone and not everyone is going to see it or think like we do, for some the extra security of the OS is enough and it being more of a privacy concern than a security one it could be justifiable to them.
